Mock the Week is a British satirical panel show, hosted by Dara O Briain, featuring six comedians giving hilariously bogus answers to topical news stories. Common rounds include categories, where a comedian must make jokes about a random subject, if this is the answer what is the question?, where an answer will be shown and the panel must guess what it is the answer to. Finally there is the “unlikely things to hear” round, where the entire panel must provide one-liners based on a topic like “unlikely things to hear in a police station” or “on a driving test” for instance. The show has run for twelve series now and attracts in excess of three million viewers per episode. Old episodes are frequently shown on the freeview channel Dave, a fact which is often referred to by the panel, making it an amusingly recursive program at times.
