After the death of a young woman in a brutal shark attack, Amity Island’s mayor and police chief come to loggerheads over whether or not the beaches need to be closed for the safety of residents and tourists. Unable to settle on whether tourism revenue or public safety gets priority, they enlist the help of Ichthyologist Matt Hooper and sea captain Quint to help capture the killer shark and make the water safe for swimmers once more.
