Iron Man was released May 2008 and directed by Jon Favreau. Playing the role of Iron man/Tony Stark was Robert Downey Jr along with Terrence Howard playing his best friend colonel Jim Rhodes and Gwyneth Paltrow playing his assistant Pepper Potts. Playing the villain Obadiah Stane was Jeff Bridges. The plot begins with Tony Stark unveiling his new Jericho missile and enjoying his success with some drinks in the convoy of hummers whilst en route back to camp, however on the journey back the hummers got attacked and subsequently Tony Stark left the now burning hummers and sought shelter only to be attacked by one of his own missiles which exploded upon him. Tony Stark awakens mid surgery when his captors were implanting an electromagnet into his chest. In order to escape the brilliant Tony Stark decides he must build a suit of armor.
